THE new series of hit TV show Scrappers has been postponed.

Fans of the programme were left disappointed on Tuesday night after the popular BBC documentary, which features Bolton scrap yard at Metro Salvage, failed to air.

The second series, entitled Scrappers – Back in the Yard, follows boss Terry Walker and his glamorous wife Lyndsay while they prepare to hand their beloved business to their kids, Jemma, Cathy and Jon.

The BBC has stated that the reality programme has been delayed for "legal reasons" but hope it will be on screens later in the year.

Mr Walker said: "There were a lot of disappointed people on Tuesday night when it wasn't on. Lyndsay and I had about 200 emails from people who were gutted. I'm really sorry to them but it's out of my hands.

"We haven't spoken to the BBC, just the production company, who rung me to say it had been changed last minute. So I don't know what the problem is.

"It's really frustrating but thinking about it, I'm actually quite happy because with it being holiday season everyone is away. So it might end up being a bit of a blessing in disguise."

Mr Walker says that this is not the first time the start date has been moved.

Terry said: "I was shocked that they just pulled it but there is no need to worry — it's not the first time they've postponed the show. They did it on the first series and they've already moved the start date it twice with this series. It sometimes happens; we're not the only one."

A spokesman for the BBC said: "Due to legal reasons, the series Scrappers — Back In The Yard has been postponed. We apologise to any viewers who are disappointed by the last minute change in schedule and we hope to air the series later in the year."
