THERE was plenty to celebrate at Kearsley Academy on results day.

The majority of students have won a place at university — completing a hugely successful year in which they academy was found to be good with outstanding feature by the government's education watchdog Ofsted.

Natasha Relf, aged 18, is going to the University of Buckinghamshire but will be based at Burnley Football club to study sport management.

Natasha, who achieved double distinction plus in business and distinction plus in sport, said:“I am really pleased with my results and enjoyed my time in Kearsley Academy Sixth form. I am excited about the next stage of my career and starting at university."

Beth Jones, aged18, who achieved distinction plus in business, distinction in ICT, D in psychology is going to Anglia Ruskin to study marine biology with conservation. She said: “I have found that I can achieve anything I want to while in sixth form and look forward to taking this onto my new life at university.”

Shannon Comiskey, aged 18, who achieved double distinction plus and a distinction in music is going to Edgehill to study music.

She said: “I loved my time at Kearsley Academy Sixth form and would like to thank the music department for all their support and guidance in helping me to get into my first choice university.”

Bradley Grant, aged 18, achieved distinction plus in business, distinction in ICT and C in art and is going to do fine art at Glyndwr University, Wrexham.

He said: “I have been able to improve and develop my skills in sixth form and hopefully I will be able to further these at university to develop my talents.”

Tom Edwards, aged 18, who gained a distinction plus in business, distinction in ICT and merit in creative media going to study media and film studies at Manchester Metropolitan University.

He said:“I would like to thank the enthusiastic teachers for all their help and I am really pleased with my results and looking forward to the future.”
