A HUSBAND and wife duo who lost their jobs at a Bolton charity when administrators were called in have set up their own company.

Tracey and Simon Conchie's new firm Red Box Training has also given jobs to six more staff made redundant by the troubled Mojo Trust, formerly BoltonWISE.

Mojo Trust in Brownlow Way, Halliwell, gave advice to people in finding work and progressing their careers.

But it was forced to call in administrators after the loss of its apprenticeship status at the end of July, the latest in a series of financial blows.

Red Box Training is now set to take on Mojo Trust's work with young people — and hopes to be up and running by the time the new school term starts in September.

Mrs Conchie said: "We have both worked for Mojo Trust, formally Bolton Wise, for 13 years and we were so upset by the company going and leaving so many young people from Bolton schools with no training.

"They were all ready to start with us in September we decided to set up on our own.

"We have worked with the young people since the project started so we have so much knowledge in helping young people to decide on a career and help them into further education or employment.

"Pupils come to us to learn vocational training such as construction, motor vehicle and hair and beauty — but we don’t want to stop there we want to offer more.

"We have taken six staff with us which has secured employment for them — all our staff are really dedicated to helping young people.

"At the moment we are working really hard to meet the September deadline so we are up and ready for the school term."

Metro Salvage, Seddon's and Bolton Council have helped Red Box Training, which is currently basing itself at the Learner's Arms in Brownlow Way, set up.

BoltonWISE was set-up in 1997 and re-branded as Mojo Trust in 2013.

Jason Elliott, of Cowgill Holloway, one of the administrators, said they were working to save as many jobs as possible.

He said: “To date we have saved 28 jobs and retained a further two staff, pending ongoing negotiations.

“We have also managed to secure the continuity of the critical services that Mojo Trust provides including Welfare to Work, Foundation Learning, Energy Advice and Apprenticeship Support."

This week it emerged that Mojo Trust owed up to £750,000 to Bolton Council.
