A DRAMATIC police chase took place through the streets of Breightmet yesterday.
A black Audi A3 was seen in Deepdale Road at about 12.30pm, with a police vehicle in pursuit.
Eyewitnesses said it was driving very quickly and nearly veered off the road at one stage, clipping the curb and almost flipping over. The car was then chased down Deepdale Road to Bury Road, according to witnesses.
The car was then stopped at 12.44pm after a short pursuit in Bury Road.
Police said the car had been stolen from Tonge Moor a few weeks ago, and officers spotted it as it had been fitted with a marker.
The men in the car jumped out and fled on foot, leaving the Audi, with its handbrake off, to roll backwards into the police car.
They escaped in the direction of Blair Lane, and a police spokesman said no arrests have been made.
Officers recovered the Audi from the scene.
Anyone with information should call police on 101.
