BOLTON band the Jade Assembly are to release their twist on a classic Wanderers football chant.

Members John Foster, Andy Watson, Danny Hayes and Gareth Smedley, who are big fans of the club, have re-worked the 'Burnden Aces' chant into a new track — Walking Down the Manny Road — which will be available to download next month.

The popular chant has been sung on the terraces by Bolton fans for decades and dates back to the club's days at their former ground Burnden Park.

The four-piece indie rock group will release the single on September 12 along with another single — Our Town — inspired by growing up in Bolton.

Guitar and vocalist Mr Foster said: "We are all big fans of Bolton Wanderers so it's an honour to be able to record such an iconic song.

"Then to play it at our team's football ground is a dream come true.

"We wanted to help bring up the atmosphere in the ground. Quite a few people who we've spoken to have said the same, and thankfully we've had really positive feedback about it from the club.

"I've been watching the club play for 30 years back to the Burnden Park days, which is where the song originated from.

"Because of this, it means a lot to me personally and I hope it will to other fans too."

The band will play a three-song set in the stadium's Fan Zone on September 12 when Whites play Wolverhampton Wanderers at home.

Snippets of the track were played at the Macron at the club's last home game against Nottingham Forest.

Mr Foster said: "We'll play the Burnden Aces song, of course, and Our Town, which I wrote about growing up in Bolton.

"It's about being proud of where you come from and has the lyric, 'we're Bolton boys till the day we die'.

"We're hoping this will be a good way of energising the crowd and getting them behind the players."
