3. Bolton Hospice Colour Run at Queens Park, Sunday

Everyone is invited to join the hospice to celebrate a life in colour as part of its annual 5K Colour Run. Those who like to stay clean and tidy may want to stay clear as participants will get covered in powdered paint as they make your way around the course – and will look like a human rainbow by the time they reach the finish.

4. Glaston-Bury, various locations in Bury, Monday

Bury’s free music festival. This year promises to be the biggest yet with a host of bands taking over venues across Bury, including 101 Bar, Art Picture House, Brambles Bar, Molloy's, the Blind Tiger and the Met.

Bands include Bigfoot, Lofthouse and Greenday UK who join returning bands Small Weller, former Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibrahim.

5. Manchester Pride, Manchester’s Gay Village, until Monday

Manchester’s LGBT event. Hollywood actor Sit Ian McKellen, star of The Lord of the Rings and X-Men, is this year’s Grand Marshal and will parade through the streets on Saturday.
