THE new headteacher of Bolton School's infant section believes 'firm foundations' leads to success later in life.

Tracey Taylor is taking over Beech House — the school's co-educational infant department — from Deborah Northin.

Mrs Taylor, who lives in Chorley, said: "I am really looking forward to meeting and getting to know the children and their parents. Successful schooling is all about creating a healthy relationship between teachers, children and their parents and homelife.

"Once I have got to know the staff better and they have got to know me, I hope to take Beech House to the next phase in its development."

Mrs Taylor was previously head of Adlington Primary School, where under her leadership numbers rose and the school established an 'excellent reputation' in the local community.

She started her teaching career at a reception and year one class teacher after graduating from Edge Hill College with a BEd and gaining her National Professional Qualification for Headship from Edge Hill College.

Mrs Taylor said: "I believe that success starts with establishing firm foundations and I believe pupils thrive in early life if they have had positive and creative experiences in the early years of their education."

Infants at Beech House are taught in a new £5.2 million school developed by Bolton-based G&J Seddon which was officially opened by Warren Smith JP, Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester in 2010.

Out of school Mrs Taylor — who is married with two grown-up sons — enjoys walking, swimming, baking, glass painting as well as visiting art galleries, exhibition and places of historical interest.

Mrs Northin retired after five years as head of Beech House.
