Assault woman in court

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a woman to a conditional discharge for 12 months after she admitted assault.

Lisa Treggiden, aged 39, of Thicketford Road, Bolton, had initially denied assaulting a woman on March 21, but changed her plea to guilty.

The court also ordered her to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Careless driver fined

A MOTORIST who drove without due care and attention on Manchester Road, Bolton, has been fined by magistrates.

Dier Ahmed, aged 40, of Romiley Crescent, Bolton, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on July 9.

He was fined £135 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs, a £150 criminal courts charge and £20 victim surcharge.

Phone damage man fined

DAMAGING a mobile phone resulted in a man being fined by Bolton magistrates.

Damian Wynne, aged 28, of no fixed address, admitted causing damage, estimated at £30, to a woman's phone on August 31.

He was fined £65 and ordered to pay £30 compensation, £85 prosecution costs and a £150 criminal courts charge.

Taxi driver must pay £980

A TAXI driver has been found guilty of careless driving on the M61 motorway.

At Bolton Magistrates’ Court, Simon Higginson, of Shawfield Close, Manchester, had denied committing the offence.

Magistrates heard that Higginson’s driving on the northbound carriageway at Bolton on June 1 last year was bordering on dangerous and he was carrying fare-paying passengers in his Ford Focus at the time.

He was fined £300 and nine penalty points were added to his driving licence.

He was also ordered to pay £650 prosecution costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Man banned from getting in touch

A MAN has been given a suspended prison sentence by magistrates after they heard how he sent whatsapp text messages to a woman.

A non-molestation order banned Darren Banks, aged 38, of Southfield Drive, Westhoughton, from getting in touch with the woman.

But he admitted sending messages intended for her via a third party on August 12, the same day the order had been made.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months and ordered to participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

Banks was also told he must pay a £180 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
