Bolton drug driver fined at rate of fiver a week

A DRUG-driver has been banned from motoring for a year and will pay his fine at a rate of five pounds a week.

Alan Litherland, 26, of Peel Park Crescent, Little Hulton, admitted being behind the wheel of a Daihatsu Sportrak on July 1 in Back Fletcher Street South, Bolton, when he had too many cannabinoids in his blood.

He was fined £100 and ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge, £85 prosecution costs and £150 court costs.

Magistrates also disqualified Litherland from driving for 12 months.

He had earlier admitted drug driving at a hearing on August 25 and was sentenced on Friday at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

Aftershave thief avoids jail

A FRAGRANCE and DIY tool thief has avoided jail for pinching from shops.

Damian Dunstan, of Croxton Walk, Horwich, stole aftershave bottles worth £76 from Asda in Manchester Road, Bolton on August 8.

He made off on September 4 with various drills and parts from the town's B&Q store in Roundhill Way that would have cost £312.

The 32-year-old pocketed razors and aftershave worth £137 from a Tesco store in Chorley on March 10.

Dunstan admitted three counts of theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

He was handed a two week prison sentence for the first offence and a separate eight week jail term for the second, both suspended for a year.

Man jailed for stealing

A SHOPLIFTER who went on an "offending spree" has been jailed for eight weeks.

Nathan Hornsey, aged 27, of Brock Avenue, Breightmet, admitted to Bury magistrates last Thursday that on July 27, he went to Bury and stole aftershave worth £148 from Debenhams, toothbrushes worth £100 and razors worth £45 from Wilkinsons and three cans of spray can worth £99 from Boots.

Magistrates judged that the thefts were serious because they were committed on a spree of offending while Hornsey was subject to a court order and they said they had no confidence that he would comply with non-custodial disposal.

Spate of thefts from taxi drivers in Great Lever

TAXI drivers are being warned not to leave valuables unattended in their car.

Police in Bolton tweeted to alert minicab motorists to take their wallets and purses, mobile phones, sat nav devices, gadgets and other possessions with them when they leave their vehicle.

There have been a spate of break-ins in Great Lever and three teenagers appeared in court on Monday accused of stealing money and other items from taxi drivers.

Door damage teenager in court

A TEENAGER who caused damage estimated at £700 to a door and window has appeared before Bolton magistrates.

Symone Hayes, aged 19, of Central Avenue, Farnworth, admitted causing criminal damage, was sentenced to a 12 month conditional discharge and was also ordered to pay £350 compensation, a £150 criminal courts charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
