WANDERERS fans are set to “light up the Macron” in tribute to 15-year-old fan Zak Vali who lost his battle with cancer on Saturday.

Fans are planning to come together during Whites’ clash with Birmingham on Tuesday October 20 and shine their smartphone lights during the 15th minute of the game — a nod to brave Zak’s age when he died.

The moving gesture has been organised by the Bolton Wanderers Fans Facebook group and is being shared around the country.

A message from the group said: “As you may be aware 15 year old Zak Vali recently passed away on September 26.

“Zak was a big Bolton fan who loved going to games watching his favourite players.

“To remember the bright personality that he had, we're asking for all Bolton and Birmingham fans to shine their lights on their phones on the 15th minute of the game on Tuesday October 20 as a mark of remembrance.”

Young Zak was the son of well-known boxing promoter and taxi boss Asif Vali and was being looked after at Manchester Children’s Hospital, where he had received chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

The Facebook group has been flooded with messages of support from fans who plan to take part in the tribute next month.

Paul Greenhalgh wrote: “RIP. BWFC will do you and your family proud — I will be there shining my light.
