A PARTY animal who downed pints of cider every weekend has curbed her crazy lifestyle for Go Sober for October.

But if that was not enough, Cami Walsh has also pledged to quit her 10-a-day smoking habit too, for Stoptober.

The 32-year-old, who works long hours as a customer service advisor during the week, says she is determined to cut out her weekend bad habits to focus on carving out a photography career while raising money for Macmillan cancer.

Miss Walsh, from Great Lever, would let her hair down at the weekend with her friends after working throughout the week — and often did not get back home until the early hours.

She said: "It starts off with my friends asking me to go out for a couple of drinks, but it never turns out that way and I always end up crawling in at 4am. It's ridiculous when I think about it. I never got paralytically drunk but I could easily have five pints of cider followed by Jack Daniels and cokes.

"I work long hours in the week so the only time I can get things done is on a weekend, but all the binge drinking was taking its toll and stopped me doing things that I wanted to do because I was so hungover. On top of that, it was really unhealthy."

Miss Walsh, who has also given up smoking, hopes to use her sober weekends to spend more time taking and editing photographs.

She said: "I decided to give up smoking at the same time because people kept saying that I wouldn't be able to do it, but that's just spurring me on. I know I can do it. I feel like I do the same thing week in, week out. I love going out with friends, I am a social person, but I think it's time that I take a grip on my life and do things to further my career at the same time as raising money for a good cause.

"I chose Macmillan as the charity because a family member had breast cancer so it is a really important charity to me."

To prove she will complete her challenges, Miss Walsh is arranging a fundraising acoustic event at Bolton Little Theatre's Forge theatre on Friday, October 30.

She added: "By that time I will only have one day left so people will have to believe me when I tell them I can do it."
