PRIMARY school pupils have played guest of honour at the opening of Over Hulton's new-look Co-operative store.

The store in Newbrook Road, re-opened on Friday, 2 October following a near £240,000 investment.

Guests of honour at the re-launch were children from St Andrews Over Hulton primary school who helped the store team to cut the ribbon and declare the store open to the community.

The major makeover has seen a focus on fresh products and essentials, as well as introducing a new in-store bakery and refrigeration units.

Two new jobs have also been created and the store will offer Post Office services.

Manager Janet Green said: “We are delighted that children from the school could join us to share our special day, they performed the ribbon cutting duties amazingly.

"We are thrilled that there has been such an investment in the store, we have a fantastic new-look food store with which to serve the community and it is an exciting time for the whole team."

The store team hope the shop will become an asset to the community and have launched launches a Community Pioneer role, where a member of the food store team will foster involvement in community activities, such as fundraising initiatives, and develop solutions to meet community needs.

Offers and promotions will be running in store as part of the re-launch, including student discounts.
