GREAT Scott! Time travelling scientist Doctor Emmett Brown is set to drive back to the future — and he has set his De Lorean to arrive at the Macron Stadium on Sunday November 8.

As part of the first Bolton Movie Con a unique live action show marking the 30th anniversary of famous film trilogy Back to The Future will be bursting into life at the stadium.

The festival-style convention on will be celebrating the magic of film and television.

The special affects-laden show boasts its very own replica motorcar De Lorean and eccentric, time machine-inventing professor Doctor Emmett Brown.

Event organisers MCUK have teamed up with the University of Bolton to create synthetic lightning effects across the live action stage to recreate the exact moment the De Lorean time machine returning from the future on the big screen.

Senior event manger Richard Stephens said: "We are welcoming a very big Back to the Future show and exhibition to celebrate 30 years of the series.

"There will be lots of very big special effects and live action. It's like being in the original film, it's going to be a really big hit on the day.

"Movie Con has gone from being a small event to epically big. The team have been working hard and it's going really, really well."

To capture the spirit of the motion picture the show will feature footage from the original 1985 film which starred Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown.

There will also be a live performance of Johnny Be Goode a la Michael J. Fox's perfomance with Marvin Berry and the Starlighters.

Organisers are hoping the show will help pull in plenty of crowds to the convention next month along with a exhibition hosted by the Hill Valley Preservation Society which will be showing off original props and clothing from the film.

As well as Back to the Future, there will be exhibitions on big film franchise like The Terminator and Star Wars, a live Disney's Frozen sing-a-long and special guests from the big and small screen.
