YOU have heard of the thinking person's crumpet — now meet the greedy person's crumpet.

Bolton bread kings Warburtons have come up with a giant alternative to the breakfast favourite which measures up at nearly twice the size of regular crumpets.

Despite its size the new big brother version has kept its soft, fluffy texture - and for the calorie-counters among you they contain 187 in each, compared to 98 in a regular sized crumpet.

The Bolton company has also put out a plethora of palette-quenching photographs featuring the generously-sized snack with some rather adventurous toppings.

But before you worry about having to toast a bin-lid sized treat under your grill, thankfully they fit perfectly into a normal toaster.

Darren Littler, innovation director Warburtons said: "As shoppers continue to face increasing time-pressures, we understand the need for quick and easy meal time solutions and we've answered this demand with our new first-to-market giant crumpets.

"With our standard crumpets firmly holding their place as a number one selling product nationwide — the best has just got bigger."

Warburtons giant crumpets cost 69p for a pack of two and are available from Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Iceland nationwide.
