LITTLE devils have been getting into the spirit of Halloween.

Gaskell Primary School was overrun with witches, zombies, werewolves and other ghoulish creatures in the run up to the big day.

Children across Bolton have been marking the day by dressing up in fun costumes and a number of schools ended the half-term with a Halloween disco.

Emily Kirk, head at Gaskell, said: "It was lovely to see the children enjoying the tradition of dressing up for Halloween. They all looked very impressive in their costumes and had lots of fun."

Halloween activities will continue through the weekend as visitors gather at Smithills Hall in the dead of night.

The historic home will be opening its gates to visitors for the first ever Museums and Night Festival today (Friday, October 30).

Families, whose children are aged eight or over, can enjoy a Victorian housekeeper's tour of the hall, hear stories of the families that have lived there.

There will be a special Halloween themed menu at Smithills Hall's team room until 7pm who fancy a bite.

The tour starts at 6pm, but the tea room for those arriving early will be open for a snack.

On Halloween itself there will spooktacular fun at Bolton Library when this month’s super Saturday focuses on the ghostly theme from 11am to 3.30pm.

At nearby High Street Library children can make their own dancing skeleton puppets to take home from 2.30pm to 3pm and at Harwood Library youngsters can celebrate Halloween by listening to scary tales, create their own haunted house story and make a creepy craft to take home.

Children can make it even more fun by coming in costume.
