TELETUBBIES, Buzz Lightyear, Tickle Me Elmo – Christmas always produces one ‘must-have’ toy that leaves doting parents desperately scouring the shops during Advent.

Here we present the 20 most popular Christmas toys for 2015 so far, according to Toys R Us, as well as what you’re likely to pay for them.

We’ve used Toys R’ Us prices as a guide, from whose online store all of these featured toys are available.

DISCLAIMER: Please be aware that we can’t be held accountable for you leaving it too late and embarking on a mad rush at the last minute, only to find they’re out of stock.

The Bolton News:

A staple feature of many young girls’ Christmas lists; Barbie’s appearance among the top 2015 toys features a foray into equestrianism The Barbie Saddle and Ride retails around the £50 mark, which is still considerably less expensive than buying your daughter a pony.

The Bolton News:

The Fisher-Price Bright Beats Dance and Move BeatBo is designed to get toddlers dancing. We’re sure a simple hi-fi could achieve the same effect, but where’s the fun in that? Beatbo – a Marvin the Martian-esque creature – has a light-up tummy and microphone so he can do a dance remix of the words you record. He retails at around £36.

The Bolton News:

An interactive and singing bird, the Little Live Pets Clever Keet is just like a real bird, but even smarter. And plastic. Like Beatbo, Keet can talk, dance and sing and also responds to your little one’s questions. His perch is detachable, so he can – unfortunately – be taken on those tedious ‘are we there yet’ car trips. He costs around £45.

The Easy Nails Nail Spa paints your nails for you at the press of a button. The arm will dip into the varnish, position itself above your nail and then paint, ensuring it doesn’t paint your skin with the handy nail guard. Sounds pretty clever to us, but don’t say we didn’t warn you when the varnish ends up on your carpet. Retails at around £30.

The Bolton News:

Most commentators think this will be the runaway ‘must-have’ toy of 2015. The Sing-A-Long Elsa Doll allows your child to croon a duet of ‘Let it Go’ from Disney’s Frozen – if you weren’t sick of that song already. She retails around £40 and features a light-up necklace and dress.

The Bolton News:

Disney are back again with the Rapunzel doll from their feature film, Tangled. When your little one brushes her hair with the golden hairbrush, it will magically glow, while Rapunzel sings the hit song from the movie, I See the Light. She retails around £35.

The Bolton News:

The IDO3D Deluxe Design Studio allows kids to create their own 3D masterpieces. Follow designs from the guidebook or build your own unique creations for hours of creative play. Simply draw and then dry with the UV light provided. This one costs around £40.

The Bolton News:

It oozes, moves and melts right before your eyes. It flows through your fingers like a slow-moving liquid, but leaves them completely dry. Kinetic sand is like a less-messy version of playdough, ensuring that mum’s brand new Christmas Dyson won’t be called into action on the deep pile.

The Bolton News:

Now we’re talking. The LEGO City Deep Sea Exploration Vessel looks as exciting as it sounds. Launch the remote sub and scuba scooter, activate the winch system to lower the submarine and climb into the shark pen. “We’re going to need a bigger boat.” And you’re going to need a bigger wallet – this bad boy will set you back around £60.

The Bolton News:

Here’s LEGO’s Friends Heartlake Grand Hotel. Take a dip or relax in the sun lounger with a freshly made drink from the smoothie bar. Later on enjoy cake and coffee at the hotel café or get an ice cream served on the terrace by the fountain outside. Hours of fun, and hours of overtime – this one will cost you £100.

The Bolton News:

If you’re not already familiar with the Minions yet; lucky you. Those who are will recognise this to be Stuart. The Tumbling Talking Stuart doll is an animatronic plush soft toy that falls forwards and backwards, but always makes it back on his feet - like those indomitable Minions themselves. He costs around £50.

The Bolton News:

If you’re the kind of parent that worries about their kid playing with toy guns, then this one isn’t for you. Nerf keep upping the ante in the children’s arms race. It’s surely only a matter of time before a Nerf Howitzer or Nerf ICBM reaches the market. Until then, the N Strike Modulus ECS-10 Blaster should satisfy your child’s demands for a larger arsenal of foam projectiles. It costs around £40.

The Bolton News:

No job is too big; no pup is too small for the Paw Patrol. Join Ryder the dog and head out on epic adventures and rescues. As seen in the Nickelodeon series, the Paw Patroller toy will set you back around £60.

The Bolton News:

Pie Face is a game of nerves, with players taking turns to load the throwing arm with squirty cream and placing their head in the frame. The suspense builds as they turn the handle, hoping not to be splatted in the face. It’s like a more messy version of pop-up pirates and will cost you about £20.

The Bolton News:

Go on a food spree with the Shopkins Ice Cream Truck, featuring a treat board and an ice cream display with an umbrella. The truck features moving wheels, so you can take the adventure on the road. This set costs around £20.

Guaranteed to be the toy that the Dads end up playing with on Christmas Day is the Kylo Ren Deluxe Electronic Lightsaber, from the soon-to-be-biggest-film-ever Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Bolton News:

Standing over half a metre tall, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutations Giant Leonardo Playset features nine different rooms to explore, including the Turtles’ living room, Splinter’s meditation area, the skate park with a half-pipe, Michelangelo’s pad, lookout tower, the Turtles’ dojo, Donatello’s workshop, computer lab and a detainment room (sounds a bit serious that last one). 30 different features include a street light catapult and sneaky sewer trap door. It will cost you around £100 and quite a lot of floor space.

The Bolton News:

Featuring a fire station, police station and a variety of tracks, accessories and vehicles, this play set allows your little one to create their own city on the living room floor, as well as plenty of things for you to stand on while wearing just your socks. It’ll cost you around £50.
