SNOOKER star Dominic Dale found himself in the frame at a family fun day in memory of a 'brave little fighter'.

Dominic was the special guest at the event organised by the charity Aarav’s Little Help which was set up in the name of Aarav Asal who died of a rare form of cancer aged just three in 2012.

His loving parents Sunita and Raj Asal, who live in Kearsley with their 18 month-old baby Aarush, set up the charity to help youngsters fighting illnesses.

The family fun day was organised at St Gregory’s Social Club – and the snooker player turned up right on cue to have his face painted.

Mr Asal, aged 39, met Dominic through his Manchester-based business Unique Visa Services Ltd, which has organised travel documentation for snooker players.

Mr Asal said: “Dominic came to my office, I mentioned I wanted a celebrity to turn up to the family fun day and he said he would do. He is a genuinely nice guy and enjoyed it. I was talking to him one minute turned around for five minutes and he was his face painted.”

Other attractions included games, food and paintballing organised by the army.

Mr Asal added: “This is the first fundraiser we have held for the charity and raised £1,159 and I’m still counting.

“We are really pleased with the support we received.

“We will hold another family fun day — but this time in the summer because the weather was so bad.”

The money raised will be spent on buying gifts to distribute in children’s hospitals this Christmas.

Mr Asal said: “We want to take round some gifts to put smiles on the children’s faces.”
