ALFIE the Chihuahua proved he was a real rover by ‘parking’ his owners’ campervan during a driving tour north of the border.

Little Alfie was spotted behind the wheel by owners Jan and Al Meehan on a recent trip to Scotland.

The couple where embarking on a 500 mile journey around Caledonia’s coasts as part of the North Coast 500.

The new tourist route is a way marked journey taking in Scotland’s coasts and rich history – billed as the Scottish answer to Route 66.

During the most northerly point of their journey in John O’Groats, Alfie decided he wanted to get in the driver’s seat.

Thankfully for other motorists it was nothing more than an opportune moment to capture a picture – given that Alfie’s paws obviously wouldn’t reach the pedals.

“He goes everywhere with us,” said Jan, of Worsley. “We’re off to France in January for our annual ski trip.

“He likes to snuggle inside my coat when we're out in the snow as it’s too cold for his tiny paws.”
