PRIMARY School pupils proved they can "cut-it" as they officially opened a new shop in Horwich.

Youngsters, from Chorley New Road Primary School, helped launch the new Co-op food store, which has been built on the site of the former Greenwood Arms pub.

As well as opening the £550,000 shop, the children performed a selection of Christmas and seasonal songs to the delight of store colleagues and customers.

The investment in the new store, in Chorley New Road, has transformed the derelict site and created 15 new jobs, of which part-time vacancies remain.

Suzanne Ashurst, manager of the new store, said: “We are delighted to have made such a significant investment in Horwich and to have launched The Co-op’s latest food store — the store looks fantastic and it really is an exciting time for the whole team.

"We have received great feedback and we are thrilled that the primary school could join us to share in our special day."
