BOLTON school children will be able to watch their hard work on stage after designing costumes for a Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime.

The pantomime, run by theatre production company Fame Factory Spotlight will be held at Bolton Whites Hotel.

Pupils across Bolton were given the opportunity to get involved with its Design a Costume competition and picked up their pens to design costumes for characters Silly Billy and Dame Dolly.

Damian Chadwick, venue controller at Bolton Whites Hotel, who presented the children with their winning designs, said: “We really enjoy working with the local community and as Christmas is all about giving and sharing we wanted to do something that everyone could really get involved in.

“We had so many brilliant entries that it made our decision an incredibly tough one, but the winning designs really stood out and it will be great to see them come to life for the show.”

St Philip's CE Primary School pupil Rosie Haddock created the winning design for Silly Billy and has won tickets to the pantomime for her class as well as a family ticket for her family to see her design in all its glory.

Meanwhile the design for Dame Dolly’s costume was a joint win with Zoe Fell, from St Philip's and Clara Yates, from Eagley Junior School, and their designs will both be worn by the character in the show.

There were also three runners-up who each received a family ticket and all entries will be displayed in the Premier Suite throughout all performances which run from Friday, December 4, to Sunday, January 3.

Tickets are priced from £12 concessions, £15 adults, £48 for a family of four and £9 for groups over 30.
