HORWICH Library visitors love to find Wally, while town-centre library visitors are more interested in passing their driving tests.

The Bolton News looked into which books and films were borrowed most often from the borough's libraries — and here are the results.

In Blackrod, book fans loved Ann Cleeves' The Glass Room the most and some of them wanted tips on how to turn their produce into tasty treats, with the sixth most popular book being The Great Allotment Cookbook.

Blackrod's most favourite author this year was Tony Ross.

Danielle Steele’s First Sight was most popular among Breightmet readers, while Peter Robinson's Watching The Dark was their second favourite and Daisy Meadows was the most borrowed author.

I Want To Be A Cavegirl, by Tony Ross, was the most popular book borrowed from Bromley Cross Library.

Two of the books that made the top ten were by Erica James, while Daisy Meadows was Bromley Cross's favourite author.

At Bolton Central Library, The Official Highway Code was the most borrowed book while Life in the United Kingdom, A Guide For New Residents was sixth and The Official DSA Theory Test for Car Drives is seventh.

Two Harry Potter books make the list and Daisy Meadows was the library's most popular author.

Jack Reacher series writer Lee Child impressed Farnworth Library visitors with his novel Never Go Back and the same book topped the charts in Harwood too.

The two libraries also had a favourite author in common — James Patterson.

Children's book Horrid Henry's Nits was the most borrowed book from the High Street library and two books about life in the UK have made the top ten. Daisy Meadows was the most-borrowed author.

Where's Wally Books make up the top two at Horwich Library, followed by the 2013 Guinness Book of Records. Tony Ross was the library's favourite author.

In Little Lever, Nora Robert's thriller The Witness was the most borrowed, while Lee Child's Never Go Back was most borrowed in Westhoughton. Daisy Meadows was the most popular author at both libraries.

Movie fans can borrow films from Central, Harwood and Horwich libraries and Gravity was the overall favourite.

Gravity was the most-borrowed film from Central Library, Frozen was most popular at Harwood Library and Brave was top of the list at Horwich Library.

Others to make the list were Thor, The Lego Movie and Captain Phillips.
