Supermarket drunk fined

A MAN has been fined by magistrates after admitting being drunk and disorderly in a Bolton supermarket.

Rajesh Patel, aged 46, of Rishton Lane, Great Lever, committed the offence at Morrisons, Blackhorse Street, on December 17.

He was fined £150 and ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Woman caught begging sentenced in court

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a woman to a conditional discharge for 12 months after she admitted begging in Bolton town centre.

Lisa Aspen, aged 39, of Bromwich Street, Bolton, was caught begging in Ashburner Street on November 24 and Newport Arcade three days later.

Son jailed for ignoring ban on contacting dad

A MAN who ignored a court order banning him from contacting his father has been jailed for 38 weeks by Bolton magistrates.

The court heard John Jones, aged 33, of no fixed address, had repeatedly flouted the restraining order and between November 24 and New Year's Day, contacted his dad by phone and text messages.

Jones admitted committing the offence.

Banned driver given unpaid work sentence

A BANNED driver caught behind the wheel of a car has been sentenced to do 100 hours unpaid work.

Balazs Grunvald, aged 28, of Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, had been disqualified from driving when he was stopped on Scholey Street, Bolton whilst driving a Skoda Fabia.

Grunvald admitted committing the offence and having no insurance.

As well as the unpaid work, Bolton magistrates banned him from holding a licence for a further 12 months and ordered him to pay £145 in costs and charges.

Drink driver banned

A MOTORIST who had drunk more than twice the legal alcohol limit has been banned from driving for 18 months.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Ndabezinhle Buleni, aged 22, of Hamel Street, Daubhill, pleaded guilty to drink driving in a Ford Fiesta on Ormrod Street, Bolton, on August 14 last year.

He was fined £162 and ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges.

Phone thief ordered to pay £500 compensation

A THIEF who stole a woman's mobile phone has been ordered to pay her £500 compensation.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Steven Taylor, aged 44, of Tonge Moor Road, Bolton, admitted taking the Samsung Galaxy phone on December 17.

He was sentenced to a conditional discharge for two years and also told he must pay £100 in costs and charges.

Shoplifter sentenced to community order

A SHOPLIFTER who stole electrical goods from a supermarket has been sentenced to a community order by Bolton magistrates.

Gary Stevenson, aged 51, of Redbrook Close, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to taking the goods, worth £130, from Sainsburys on October 30 last year.

The court ordered him to undertake 15 days of rehabilitation activity and pay £50 compensation to the store.

Van driver fined £880 after police stop

A VAN driver from Horwich who drove without care and attention was not present in court to hear he had been fined more than £800.

Martin Grundy, of Mallard Drive, was pulled over by police while behind the wheel of a 2005-reg Ford Transit van travelling along a street in Standish, near Wigan, on July 7.

The 26-year-old was charged with driving without insurance and driving without due care and attention.

He did not attend Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Thursday (Jan 7) but was found guilty in his absence.

The court fined him £660 for the first offence and £220 for the second and ordered him to pay compensation of £350, a victim surcharge of £66 and prosecution costs of £85.

His licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

Man caught with stolen perfume fined by court

MAGISTRATES have fined a man after he admitted receiving perfume stolen from Boots.

James Pover, aged 36, of Ormston Avenue, Horwich, was caught with the perfume, worth £131.50, on December 18.

As well as a £55 fine, the court ordered him to take part in 12 days of rehabilitation activity and pay £145 in costs and charges.
