A DRIVER who failed to pull over for police drove at traffic officers while travelling the wrong way on the M61 near Bolton.
The motorist declined to stop for local response officers from Bolton North Intergrated Neighbourhood Policing Team and then for officers from the GMP's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit.
He then led police on a pursuit at around 1.30am yesterday while being tracked from the sky by the police helicopter.
The driver joined the M61 travelling in the wrong direction on the northbound slip road at Junction 4 for Farnworth.

"The driver enters the M61 travelling southbound on the northbound carriageway and goes head on to traffic patrol," the @GMPTraffic account posted.
"Vehicle then collides with central reservation and driver makes off on foot.
"North West Motorway Police officer then detains driver."
The motorist was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drink driving and one lane was blocked between Junction 2 for the M60 and Junction 4.
A second person was also arrested.
