Sex offender banned from lone visits to Bolton town centre 

A SEX offender has been electronically tagged after ignoring a court order and approaching females.
At Bolton Magistrates Court Andrew Baker, aged 36, of Deepdale Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to breaching the restraining order on November 10 last year.
He will be subject to a 2pm to 10pm curfew for 16 weeks and a criminal behaviour order was made banning him from entering Bolton town centre unless accompanied by a social worker for two years.

Magistrates also ordered him to pay £145 in costs and charges.

Trainer thief sentenced

A SHOPLIFTER who stole trainers worth £600 from a Bolton sports store has been sentenced to spend 36 hours at an attendance centre.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Jamie Goffett, aged 25, of Hebdon Road, Liverpool, pleaded guilty to taking the trainers from Decathlon in Bolton on January 14.

Goffett was also ordered to pay £145 in costs and charges.

Handbag thief in court

A THIEF who stole a woman's handbag has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 18 months by Bolton magistrates.

Lorraine Carbery, aged 37, of Spinners Mews, School Hill, admitted taking the bag and contents, worth £100, on January 8.

The court heard that she is now seeking help for drug addiction and she was ordered to pay £60 in costs and charges.

Drink driver banned

A DRINK driver has been fined £300 by Bolton magistrates after being caught on Manchester Road, Bolton, on January 15.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Scott Dawson, aged 23, of Albert Street, Little Lever, admitted committing the offence whilst driving a Fiat Punto.

He was banned from holding a driving licence for 12 months and was also ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

Driving ban for teen drinker

A TEENAGER who had drunk twice the legal alcohol limit has been banned from driving for 20 months.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Chloe Partington, aged 19, of Astley Brook Close, Bolton, admitted committing the offence whilst driving a Ford Ka on Crompton Way on August 31 last year.

She was also fined £180 and ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges

Court sentences threats man to do work

A MAN who admitted using threatening behaviour on January 8 has been sentenced to carry out 120 hours unpaid work.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court heard how Philip Norris, aged 27, of Cheriton Drive, Bolton behaved so badly that Stephen Coleman feared being attacked.

In addition to the work, the court ordered Norris to undertake 20 days of rehabilitation activity, hand £20 compensation to his victim and pay £145 in costs and charges

Assault man fined

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £315 after he admitted assaulting a woman and damaging a house door.

Adam Haigh, aged 25, of Ramsay Avenue, Farnworth, committed the offences on October 15 last year and the court also ordered him to pay £331 in costs and charges

Card fraud man sentenced to unpaid work

A MAN who used a stolen bank card to buy goods has been sentenced to do 100 hours unpaid work.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Christopher Bye, aged 29, of St Matthews Terrace, Bolton, admitted handling the stolen card and fraud on October 7 last year.

He was also ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs.

Motorist fined in his absence

A MOTORIST has been fined £660 for driving without care and having an illegal tyre.

Liam Gore, aged 24, of County Road, Walton, Liverpool, failed to turn up to Bolton Magistrates' Court for the hearing and was convicted in his absence.

Magistrates heard how he committed the offences whilst driving a Volvo on Highfield Road, Farnworth on July 29 last year.

In addition to the fine he was ordered to pay £129 in costs and charges.

Careless driver fined by court

A CARELESS driver has been fined £100 by Bolton magistrates after admitting committing the motoring offence on November 21 last year.

Dominic Lamb, aged 46, of Bury New Road, Breightmet, was driving a Ford B Max on Bury Road.

In addition to the fine, magistrates added six points to his driving licence and ordered him to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Pensioner jailed for ignoring court order

MAGISTRATES have jailed a pensioner for four weeks after he admitted going to a Bolton address in breach of a restraining order.

Gerald Dover, aged 65, of no fixed address, went to the property in Lindfield Drive on January 26, just the day after he was released from custody.

In addition to the jail term, Dover was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Shop thief in court

A THIEF who stole scratchcards, alcohol and cigarettes from a shop has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Bolton magistrates.

The court heard how Tony Callaghan, aged 32, of Grosvenor Street, Kearsley, took the items, together worth £114, from Costcutter on March 1 last year.

Callaghan, who pleaded guilty, was also ordered to pay £114.36 compensation plus £100 in costs and charges.

Jail for threats man

A SERVING prisoner has been jailed for six weeks after pleading guilty to using threatening behaviour in Bolton on February 27 last year.

At Bolton Magistrates' Court Marcus Atherton, aged 20, of Dorchester Avenue, Breightmet, was told he must also pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Magistrates were told that Atherton is already serving a lengthy sentence for another offence.
