POLICE are operating in the Rivington area in a bid to stop off-road motorbikes and cars “ruining the landscape.”
Eight officers from Lancashire Police have been deployed to patrol the area in a bid to cut down on the nuisance drivers.
A facebook post from Chorley Police stated: “Eight Lancashire police officers are patrolling the Rivington area to try and stop off road motor cycle and 4x4 nuisance.
“Many people enjoy a leisurely stroll around the Rivington area and shouldn't have to be greeted by motor cycles and 4x4s driving off road.
“They can be a danger to the public and not only that, they are ruining the landscape that United Utilities spend a lot of money to try to maintain and repair.”
The force added: “Positive action will be taken on any vehicles found driving not on a public highway. Please ring 101 and quote reference LC -20160207-0613 if you see any of these nuisance vehicles.”
