SCHOOL dinner has never tasted so good for the pupils of Clevelands Preparatory who tucked into a Chinese banquet yesterday.

In celebration of Chinese New Year the school cooks decided to serve up a traditional treat for the youngsters including a variety of noodles, sweet and sour chicken, ribs, seaweed and even prawn toast.

The pupils tucked into their food in the school hall which had been decorated in a Chinese theme with lanterns that the children had made in lessons.

Headteacher Lesley Parlane said: "It was absolutely fantastic, the children and staff all loved it.

"The children had a go at eating their meals with chopsticks and some of the junior children were really good with them.

"The cooks had wanted to do a few themed meals throughout the year and this was the first one.

"Everyone had a wonderful time and all the food had gone by the end of the meal."
