BOLTON parkrun celebrated its fifth anniversary on Saturday, and to mark the occasion we focus on those who have completed the most runs at the Leverhulme Park course.

In a local take on the TV movie The Rack Pack about the characters who lit up snooker in the 1980s, we look at the Park Pack, some of those who have been fixtures of the free weekly 5k run down the years.

In ascending order of number of Bolton parkruns (number of runs in brackets) we have:

Olivia Kearney (160 runs at Bolton, 162 runs in total): Oliva has featured in the top three of the female annual points competitions every year since we started, having begun running with us around the age of 12.

Brian Tull (176 runs at Bolton, 185 runs in total): Brian is easily recognisable in his yellow Darwen Dashers vest and white running gloves. Always pitches in to help pack up our course equipment afterwards.

Neil Bonnar (188 runs at Bolton, 188 in total): Forever in the shadow of his wife Judith, Neil has been a keen parkrunner and parkrun reporter at Bolton for years.

Judith Bonnar (190 runs at Bolton, 190 in total): Judith is still telling all friends, family and even people she doesn’t know about running faster than her husband Neil at Bolton over the last few months. Tattoo ideas to mark the occasion are also rumoured to be under consideration.

Rob Short (197 runs at Bolton, 200 runs in total): From starting as a non-runner in football shoes now regularly putting in sub-20 minute times and has become chairman of Burnden Road Runners and a key member of Bolton parkrun’s core volunteer team.

Ian Riggs (199 runs at Bolton, 207 runs in total): Usually runs in an all-black outfit, complete with 100-club t-shirt and sun glasses. Puts in a competitive sprint finish most weekends.

Paul McGreavy (201 runs at Bolton, 204 runs in total): Paul rarely misses an event, and is well-known for accurately predicting Bolton Wanderers scores – his normally pessimistic guesses have served him well this season.

Dave Carroll (201 runs at Bolton, 231 runs in total): Dave initially ran at Heaton Park before switching to Bolton after we started. Boasts a personal best time of 20mins 53secs.

Finley Coyne (202 runs at Bolton, 202 runs in total): Finley ran the first consecutive 14 weeks of Bolton parkrun, and has missed only a smattering of events since then. Averages a run time of 24:03.

The Johnson Lads: Paul (202 runs at Bolton) and lads Peter (195 runs) and Anthony (178 runs) have been running at Bolton since event number two. Between the three of them they’ve clocked up 601 parkruns in total at all events.

Ken Warner (221 runs at Bolton, 221 runs in total): A100 per cent commitment to Bolton parkrun, Ken’s missed only 31 events out of a possible 252 and boasts a personal best time of 22:16.
