VOTERS will go to the polls tomorrow to decide who will represent the Crompton Ward on Bolton Council.
The seat became vacant following the death of Labour Cllr Sufrana Bashir-Ismail last year, who had held it for the party since her election in 2006.
Labour will be hoping to retain the seat and their candidate is Sufrana’s sister, Bilkis Bashir-Ismail.
She will be challenged in the poll by Conservative candidate Ryan Haslam, Liberal Democrat Garry Veevers, UKIP hopeful Paul Eccles and Green candidate Laura Diggle.
The build-up to the election has been dominated by a bitter row involving various different parties concerning the postal voting process.
Voting for the by-election will take place between 7am and 10pm tomorrow and there will be six polling venues across the ward.
Votes can be cast at Crompton Children’s Centre, Cobden Community Centre, St Paul’s Church of England School, St Columba’s Roman Catholic Primary School, St Paul’s Top School (dance school) in Halliwell Road and at a mobile station in Cross Street.
