TWO drivers had a lucky escape when their cars were destroyed in a head-on crash.

The black Porsche Boxster and black Vauxhall Astra smashed into each other in Pilkington Way near McDonald’s in Radcliffe. Amazingly both drivers escaped unhurt.

The 574 First Bus, which was travelling towards Radcliffe town centre, was also involved in the accident, which happened at about 4.10pm on Saturday, but was not badly damaged.

The driver of the Porsche, a male in his 40s, suffered discomfort to his shoulder and neck, while the driver of the Astra, a male in his 60s, suffered whiplash and bruises.

A spokesman for GMP said: “Both cars were driving at 30mph at least, so that ends up being a 60mph collision. We are waiting for CCTV to assess the situation and decide whether there will be any prosecutions.”
