A FAMILY who were outraged at the sentence of their mum’s killer face further anguish, after his two accomplices were given suspended sentences.

Son Gareth Wolstenholme, whose mum Louise Wolstenholme died after being hit by a car, said he “feels sick to his core” by the sentences.

Ludovic Mabiala and Nqobile Mariwandi helped Chikoto Tinashe, after he ran over and killed Miss Wolstenholme, on January 31.

The pair appeared before Bolton Crown Court on Wednesday where Mabiala was given a four month jail sentence and Mariwandi a six month jail sentence, both suspended for 12 months.

Mr Wolstenholme said the sentence was another insult to their mum’s memory.

The 27-year-old said: “There is clearly no justice system in this country at all.

“We feel sick to the core. It's disgusting what they did to our mum and to get a slap on the wrists is an insult to our mum’s memory.

“Our mum brought us up to respect others but where is the respect for our mum?”

Chikoto enlisted the help of friends Mabiala, aged 24 and Mariwandi, aged 26, after he hit and dragged Miss Wolstenholme’s body 100 metres along Bow Street in Bolton.

Mariwandi, of Patterson Street in Deane, who was driving behind Chikoto, helped him to escape from the scene while Mabiala, of Hypatia Street in Tonge Moor, encouraged the killer driver to delete text messages to cover-up the crime.

Their actions, coupled with Chikoto’s, who first rang police to report his car stolen before retracting his statement 30 minutes later, prolonged medical assistance reaching Miss Wolstenholme, who was left under Chikoto’s Ford Focus for almost two hours.

Mr Wolstenholme added: “Their sentences have just made us even more determined to get the appeal and succeed in getting Chikoto’s sentence extended.

“We need to get as many signatures as we can. Not once have they shown any remorse yet they are free to go to university and back to work to get on with their lives, while we are left with a big hole in ours that can never be filled.

“We feel totally let down by the justice system.

“If there was sufficient evidence then we would have been looking at three totally different outcomes.”

The family are now organising to take their petition, which has already got more than 6,000 signatures in less than a week, to Bolton Town centre on Saturday.

They hope to send their petition to the Home Secretary Theresa May.
