CANNABIS, cash and mobile phones were seized after a speeding car was chased by police through Westhoughton.
Members of the Roads Policing Unit on patrol tailed a Peugeot 308 breaking the speed limit in Park Road just after midnight on Monday.
The vehicle turned into Leigh Road and failed to stop in Birch Avenue after the officer turned on his blue lights.
The Peugeot was followed into Washacre where it was abandoned and the driver, thought to be a 25-year-old man, fled on foot and has not been located.
Officers detained the passenger in the car and a search of the vehicle uncovered approximately £300 worth of cannabis bush – some already divided up in mini snap bags – along with a quantity of cash and mobile phones.
The passenger, a 23-year-old man from Bolton, was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
He has been interviewed and bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers are still investigating an offence of dangerous driving.
