BOLTON Mets are still looking for their first point of the season after suffering a heavy 90-0 defeat at Rochdale Cobras.

The home side were a tough challenge for the North West Division Four's bottom club, boasting a 100 per cent winning record this season.

The Bolton men are still in a period of transition after losing a number of experienced players and replacing them with novices to the sport.

Officials are confident their fortunes will change with experience and development of the basic skills of the sport and are happy with the workrate of the players.

Mets turned out just 14 players against a side with an array of experienced players in their ranks and coached by a semi-professional player.

Bolton second rowers Andy Platt and Josh Cooke impressed with their repeated carrying into the Cobras line, and props Gavin Corfield and Tom Warbrick made good inroads, while defensively Joe Harte led from the front with Jason Nuttall and Paul Charnock supporting well.

Shaun Ali and Will Brown were playing only their second ever game of rugby league, with Gareth Shaw only a couple of games more under his belt.

Platt won the opposition's man-of-the-match award ahead of Corfield and Nuttall while Joe Harte took the top tackler award.

On Saturday Mets host their first international opponents, the Rotterdam Pitbulls of the Netherlands, at 4.30pm at Avenue Street.
