TODAY'S Looking Back photograph was taken in May 1955.

It shows the footpath between the lawns and the flower beds of the Cenotaph in Victoria Square.

The footpath was being widened to doubt the width it was at the time.

This particular picture was taken part way through the work and shows where cinders had replaced the turf to form a foundation for the paving stones.

The outline of the buildings in the photograph look very similar today but the shops are different and in the 1950s vehicles were able to travel alongside and in front of Bolton Town Hall.

We would love to know if anyone recognises this woman posing for our photograph?

We would also love to hear your memories of Bolton Town Centre in the past. Do you have any stories to tell of working in the centre or visiting for shopping trips?

How have things changed in the past 60 years?
