THOUSANDS of families are invited to celebrate at Astley Bridge's Festival this summer.

The celebration of music, art, photography, history, floristry, fun and games will take place on July 9 to 10.

A number of venues will be hosting different events, including Astley Bridge Park, Oldham Children’s Centre, Bank Top Church, Drummond Street, Astley Bridge Baptist Church, All Souls Church and The Gospel Hall.

It is the second year the festival will take place; organised by Friends of Astley Bridge, community groups and businesses.

In 2015 the event had more than 1000 people attend with organisers hoping that this year's event will draw in an ever bigger crowd.

There will be live music, a talent show, free workshops, demonstrations, a garden party, performances and arts and crafts, on top of a whole host of other activities.

But in order to host the free event organisers are looking for volunteers to help.

A spokesman for Friends of Astley Bridge said: "To make this festival happen Friends of Astley Bridge are looking for a host of volunteers to help organise festivities; people to help plan the festival, steward the event, take photo’s and even help with a fundraising bag pack at the local ASDA.

For each venue there is a different theme and they are all looking for contributors."

At Bank Top Church, in Ashworth Lane artists are invited to come forward to display their work.

All kinds of artwork will be considered in oils, water colours, pen and ink, pencil, etc.
