A CAR ended up on its roof after hitting a van in Blackrod in a crash that flattened a lamppost.
The white Volkswagen Golf flipped over after the collision with a white Peugeot Partner panel van in Manchester Road, close to the junction with Station Road, known locally as Tanners Brow, at 11am.
Witnesses said the Golf was travelling southbound when it clipped the van edging out of a side road.
Police said there were two occupants in the Volkswagen - one of whom, the male driver, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving - and one in the Peugeot.
None of them were trapped and none went to hospital.
The air ambulance landed in a nearby field but was not required to transport anyone.
A streetlight was flattened in the smash and traffic officers closed the road while tending to the scene.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "One person was inside the car and the fire service and the ambulance service attended.
"All those involved were conscious and breathing."
A North West Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed paramedics were called out at just before 11am.
She confirmed crews tended to three patients at the roadside, which meant the air ambulance could be stood down.
Bus services were diverted around the village for the duration police cordoned off the road, which reopened at around 1pm.
