Peter Kay's Car Share scooped two Bafta TV awards this evening.

Peter Kay won the accolade for male performance in a comedy and the sitcom was also named best scripted comedy.

As his award was announced, the Bolton funnyman exclaimed: "Oh my God!"

BBC factual drama Don’t Take My Baby, which featured Westhoughton actress Ruth Madeley, won the Single Drama award. 

The British Academy Television Awards were handed out at the Royal Festival Hall.
