Woman in court for stalking man

A WOMAN who admitted stalking a man, assaulting him and damaging his television, has been sentenced to a conditional discharge for 12 months by Bolton magistrates.

The court heard how Dawn Rowson, aged 38, of Crook Street, Bolton, beat Julian Jones and then caused damage, estimated at £250, to his television before harassing him by repeatedly phoning him between February 27 and 29.

Rowson was ordered to pay £100 in costs and charges and hand £250 compensation to her victim.

The court also made a restraining order banning Rowson from contacting Mr Jones for a year.

Burglar broke into The Spinning Mule on Christmas Eve

A BURGLAR who broke into a town centre chain pub on Christmas Eve has been sentenced.

Rajesh Patel, of Rishton Lane, Great Lever, entered The Spinning Mule, a JD Wetherspoon venue in Nelson Square, on December 24 last year.

He originally denied burglary but changed his plea to guilty at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court in Wigan on Wednesday.

Patel, aged 46, was given a six-week community order with a 7pm-to-7am electronically monitored curfew.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £250. A charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour on the same day as the burglary was dismissed.

Man jailed for assault on mum

MAGISTRATES have jailed a man for 14 weeks after he assaulted his mother.

The court heard how Luke Hamblett, aged 27, of Tamar Close, Kearsley, committed the offence on April 27.

He pleaded guilty and, in addition to the prison sentence, he was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Man fined for police assault

A 36-YEAR-OLD has been sentenced for an altercation with police.

Darren Stringer admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a police officer, PC Bird, and a second man on April 17 in Bolton.

He also admitted assaulting a police officer, PC Stuart Barnes, on the same day.

Stringer appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday and entered his guilty pleas.

He was made the subject of a community order for a year which includes 100 hours of unpaid work.

The 36-year-old, of Audenshaw, Manchester, must pay a total of £350 compensation to the victims.

Man fined for drunkenness

MAGISTRATES have fined a man for being drunk and disorderly.

Anthony Berry, aged 26, of Corn Mill Drive, Farnworth, committed the offence on April 17 in Springfield Road, Kearsley.

He admitted being drunk and disorderly to Bolton magistrates.

Berry was fined £135 and was ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.

Driver sparks police chase

A DRIVER sped off from police and dumped a car following a pursuit in Farnworth.

The motorist, behind the wheel of a red Vauxhall Corsa, failed to stop for traffic officers in Farnworth on Sunday afternoon, sparking a chase.

He eventually abandoned the car in Frederick Street and ran off.

Officers conducted a roadside check and found there was no insurance covering the hatchback and the car was seized.

Enquiries are ongoing regarding who the runaway driver was.

Driver banned from roads

A MOTORIST has been disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Michael Goodridge, of Duke Street, just outside Bolton town centre, was caught behind the wheel of an Audi A4 in Chorley New Road, Bolton, on November 19 last year.

He was charged with driving without a licence, without insurance and failed to supply a specimen of breath for analysis.

The 41-year-old initially denied the three offences but changed his plea when he appeared before Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Goodridge was given a year-long driving ban and was fined £150.

He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £150.

Man sentenced after resisting arrest

A 39-YEAR-OLD who resisted arrest has been sentenced.

Louis Okonkwo, of Sapling Road, Morris Green, resisted being arrested by PC Speake in Bolton on April 1.

He admitted the offence at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Okonkwo was given a 12-month conditional discharge and was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

Beggar fined by court

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £60 after he was caught begging in Bolton town centre.

The case against Christian Legg, aged 24, of no fixed address went ahead in his absence.

The court heard how he was begging in Newport Street, outside Heron Foods, on February 18.

At the time he was subject to a conditional discharge for being drunk and disorderly.

In addition to the fine he was ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Man admits smashing door at McDonald’s

A YOUNG man has admitted damaging a door at a burger restaurant.

Daniel Maxwell smashed the entrance panel to McDonald's in Derby Street, Bolton, on February 28, causing £550 of damage.

The 21-year-old admitted criminal damage at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Maxwell, of Woodvale Avenue, Great Lever, was given a two-year conditional discharge and was ordered to pay compensation of £550.

He also has to pay a victim surcharge of £15.

Breach of peace

MAGISTRATES have bound over a man for a breach of the peace.

Philip Norris, 28, of Cheriton Drive, Breightmet, appeared at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. (May 3)

The breach of the peace was committed the previous day, which he admitted.

Norris was bound over to the sum of £100.

Banned driver spared jail after crashing girlfriend's car

A BANNED driver who took his girlfriend's BMW without permission and collided with three cars had been spared jail.

Bolton magistrates heard how Lewis McClarence, aged 25, of Church Road, Bolton, took the car on Boxing Day and went on to collide with a VW Golf, Renault Scenic and Suzuki Ignis on Tonge Moor Road.

McClarence pleaded guilty to taking the vehicle, driving whilst banned, failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident and having no insurance.

He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, must undertake 150 hours unpaid work and participate in 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

He was also ordered to pay £1,100 in compensation plus £165 in costs and charges.

Cleaner loses licence for drink driving

A MAN on the police's wanted list was found driving while more than twice over the alcohol limit.

Officers were looking for Michael Lock because he had been reported as being involved in a disturbance in the resort.

Lock, a 24-year-old environmental cleaner, of Crosby Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from the road for 20 months and fined £300 with £85 costs plus £30 victims' surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Presiding magistrate, Peter Taylor, told Lock: "You could have been in a coroner's court instead of a magistrates court. You drove a distance at speed on the motorway."

Prosecutor, Martine Connah, said on April 16 at 11pm police received information Lock had been involved in a disturbance and was possibly drink-driving.

Lock was spotted driving a Vauxhall Corsa on the M55 near Blackpool. A breath test showed 79 micrograms in his body - 35 is the limit.

Kathryn Jamieson-Sinclair, defending, told magistrates that Lock said he had left Blackpool after a disagreement with his girlfriend. He then decided he could not abandon her and was on his way back when he was stopped by the police.

Lock worked around the country as an environmental cleaner and might well lose his job as he could not drive.

Drink-driver’s 23-month motoring ban

A TONGE Moor man was fined and disqualified from driving after being found almost three times over the limit.

Kieran Fletcher, of Kingston Avenue, was behind the wheel of a 2005-reg Toyota Yaris in Archer Avenue, Bolton, on April 16 with excess alcohol.

He had 105mg of alcohol in 100m of breath. The limit is 35mg.

The 27-year-old admitted drink-driving at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Fletcher was fined £300 and was order to pay a victim surcharge of £30 as well as court costs of £85.

He was given a motoring ban for 23 months.

Banned driver caught again

A TRIP through Great Lever landed a motorist with a fine and a further ban.

Frantisek Horvate should not have been on the road when he was caught behind the wheel of a Skoda Octavia in Bridgeman Street on January 28.

The 28-year-old admitted driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Horvate, of Canning Town in East London, was fined £140 and was disqualified for six months.

The magistrates ordered him to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

Scent thief sentenced

A PERFUME thief who targeted the same retailer twice in a week has been given a conditional discharge.

Kieran Doddy, of Buile Hill Avenue, Little Hulton, shoplifted fragrance worth £43 from Debenhams in the Market Place shopping centre in the town centre on April 11.

Three days later he stole a bottle of scent worth £48 from the same department store.

He admitted two counts of theft on Tuesday at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 20-year-old was given a conditional discharge for two years.

Doddy was ordered to pay compensation of £43 and court costs of £85.

Phone thief sentenced

A PHONE thief who struck on Boxing Day has been fined.

Brittany Floyd, of Gooch Street, Horwich, stole the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge - worth £500 - on December 26 in Bolton.

The 19-year-old admitted theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Floyd was given a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £500 compensation.

Thief spared jail after stealing from friend

A THIEF who stole £80 from a friend on February 15 has been spared jail.

At Bolton magistrates court Damian Wynne, aged 29, of no fixed address, admitted taking the cash from the woman.

Magistrates heard he has a lengthy criminal record for dishonesty.

He was sentenced to eight weeks in jail suspended for 12 months and was also ordered to pay £80 compensation plus £165 in prosecution costs.

Man in court over camper van attempted theft

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge for 14 months after he admitted interfering with a camper van.

Benjamin Burton, aged 24, of Hawthorne Road, Bolton, committed the offence, intending to steal, between October 9 and 26 last year.

The court ordered him to pay the camper van owner £15 compensation.

Jail for threats man

A MAN who made racially motivated threats to three people and damaged two of their cars has been jailed for 38 weeks.

Bolton magistrates heard how Andrew Gorman, aged 31, of Iron Street, Horwich committed the offences on January 24 when he was already subject to a community order.

Gorman initially denied being responsible for the crimes but then changed his plea to guilty. He also admitted being drunk and disorderly in Wigan Road and assaulting a police officer on April 19.

In addition to the jail term he was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victims or going within 200 metres of the Shan & Sons off-licence on St Helens Road.
