A MUM is appearing in millions of homes around the country – after landing a starring role in a television advert.

Lucie Rimmer is the new face of the national TV advert campaign by Bolton appliances firm AO.com.

More used to her day job as an office manager, the 38-year-old has become a mini-star among family and friends since the ad broadcast last week.

Set in her Horwich home, the 30 second advert also features her 10-year-old son Harvey.

The family were chosen as the stars of the company's most recent advert after Ms Rimmer entered a competition on the AO.com Facebook page to win a TV.

She said: "It was completely random. I just entered because it looked like a nice telly, I didn't realise it was for a chance to appear on the advert too. After I entered they got in touch and asked me to send a short video about my AO.com experience and they loved it and asked if we would like to be in the advert.

"Before I knew it there was a full film crew in the house, taking over my road, doing my makeup and hair, finding different outfits. It was great, I felt like a celebrity for the day. They completely took over the house for the day but they were all just brilliant. There were 14 people with all this kit, props and even a lady on standby to powder my nose.

"I'm really glad they use genuine customers in their adverts, it's nice for someone like me to have that experience."

The advert features Ms Rimmer talking about her experience as an AO.com customer, including a little grocery shopping montage which required three outfit changes for one shoot, and a few scenes with Harvey in their home.

While Harvey, a pupil at Blackrod Primary School, missed out on a full day of filming due to exams he got to enjoy the commotion the following day when the crew returned with a convoy of AO.com lorries and filmed more shots of their quite Horwich cul-de-sac using a drone camera for the final part of the advert.

"My phone has literally not stopped since the advert was aired, from 7am texts to posts on my Facebook wall, people telling my I've just come off telly after Pepper Pig. I was even on last night in the middle of Coronation Street. I haven't seen it yet though! I keep trying to look out for it but miss it every time.

"It has been so funny, the amount of people saying they knew it was me without even looking because they recognised the dulcet Bolton tones!"
