A GYM-goer has become an internet sensation – after posting a video online about her favourite leisure centre.

More than 12,000 people have viewed Jennifer Cunningham's clip about Horwich Leisure Centre on the GymIn Bolton Facebook page.

Staff at the leisure centre asked its members to record a video explaining what they thought about the gym and its facilities – and 52-year-old Miss Cunningham jumped at the chance.

But Miss Cunningham, a beauty consultant from Pembroke Close in Horwich, said she could never have foretold the response her video would have.

She added: “I am so shocked that it has done so well. It’s gone crazy. Who would have thought that so many people would want to watch an overweight girl doing a video about a gym? I am so happy for the gym though. And how about a girl from Horwich putting our little gym on the map.”

In the video, which has been shared 110 times, Miss Cunningham, talks for 52 seconds describing the centre as a “family friendly and down to earth gym” and also describes the facilities on offer.

Gym manager Matthew Johnson said: "We are very proud of Jennifer and everything she has achieved at the gym.

"She is always here every morning and is very passionate about it. We are going to run videos like Jennifer's every month and hopefully get more people into the gym."

Miss Cunningham has had experience in acting and has appeared in TV shows; Who is doing the dishes, Coronation Street, Last Tango in Halifax and Hello Camper.

She now hopes that her gym video will help her to secure an agent for further TV appearances.

She added: “My friends have all said that they think the video has done so well because people are able to relate to me because I am not this skinny girl. It wasn’t a rehearsed speech either we just turned the camera on and went for it, so it is very real. I just hope this might be the catapult for me to go on to better things within the TV industry.”

Horwich Leisure Centre is giving out complimentary day passes to anyone who has watched, shared or liked Miss Cunningham's video.
