A COMMUNITY dance group, which has raised more than £750,000 for charity, is celebrating its 20-year anniversary.

All Starz Children's workshop, is a not-for profit organisation for dancers aged from three to 16-years-old.

The group is based in Brownlow Fold Community Centre and St Paul's Church in Halliwell.

During its two decades in operation the group and its members have raised more than three quarters of a million pounds for charities including, Children in Need, Bolton Hospice, The Princess Royal Special Baby Care Unit and Destination Florida.

The group raises money through showcases and competitions with any profit made from the shows going to a charity, nominated by a member of the community.

It also holds fundraisers, the latest which was held in aid of stroke support group Jigsaw, at the Cotton Tree pub, in Prince Street, Bolton on Sunday.

To celebrate its 20th birthday and fundraising total, the group is jetting off to Benidorm and taking 35 of its dancers to perform in a show at the Benidorm Palace.

Founder of All Starz, Alison Power, set up the group in 1996 in order to entertain her and her sister-in-law's seven children, after finding other groups "unaffordable".

She said: “We are all really looking forward to the show, it’s a massive opportunity for the children."

The school will dance to songs from the film Matilda, with student Atlanta Ferguson playing the lead in the show and will take place on August 14.

Dance school's from England and one from Spain will also be joining in the celebrations, which will be performed at the iconic 1500-seat venue in Costa Blanca town.

Ms Power added: "I’m really proud I’ve kept the group going for 20 years and now some of the children from 20-years-ago are bringing their children.

"It’s really good for the community and people in the same situation as I was. It’s affordable and accessible."

The group holds sessions on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm until 8pm.
