BOLTON’S new mayor led a procession through Bolton town centre as part of the town’s Civic Sunday celebrations.
Cllr Lynda Byrne, who has taken on the role of the town’s first citizen, was joined by council colleagues, civic dignitaries and various military organisations for the procession.
Starting from the steps of Bolton Town Hall, the group made its way through the town centre and into Bolton Parish Church where a special service was held.
The service was conducted by the Vicar of Bolton, Revd Canon Matt Thompson and featured songs by Bennets Choir and the Bolton St Catherine’s Academy Junior School.
The Breightmet councillor has taken over mayoral duties from Smithills councillor Carole Swarbrick and has chosen her husband, Cllr John Byrne, to be her consort for the year.
