YOUNG Luke Garforth can only dream of seeing his team lifting the Premier League trophy soon — so mum Sarah pitched in to bring it to Bolton.

And eight-year-old Luke was certainly man of the match with his school friends when his mother won a competition to have the trophy brought into Devonshire Road Primary School for every pupil to have their picture taken with it.

It proved to be the highlight of the season for the Bolton Wanderers fan.

Season ticket holder Luke, who lives with his family in Heaton, said: “I’m really proud of my mum for winning the competition.

“It is not going to be in the hands of the Bolton Wanderers soon, but it could be in 10 years.

“It is really good to see it, it is amazing. I was excited when I heard it was coming to school — my dad was excited too but he couldn’t be here and had to work.

“I will show him the pictures.”

Mum Sarah, aged 36, was one of thousands of people to enter a competition to showcase the trophy into their child’s school.

She said: “I wrote I would love to see it in school as it will be a while before Bolton will see it.

“I never win anything and never expected to see it. I'm over the moon that I won."

Mrs Garforth added: “I told Luke when we went out for a meal and he jumped up and down.”

The cup was closely guarded by security guards and children could come up close to it — but there was no touching allowed.

Headteacher Pam Barnes was hoping she may get to the see the FA Cup as her team Bury FC still hold the record hold the record of the highest winning score in the FA Cup Final in 1903.

She said: “It is a magnificent trophy. We are so grateful to Sarah, it is a lovely thing for the school.

“This is bringing football into the community to the fans and giving something to the fans.”

Children throughout the school were bowled over by seeing the trophy.

Cameron Hayden, aged 11, said: “It is very big, it looks smaller on television.

“I’m not really a football fan but seeing it would wow anybody.”

Ryley Dunn, aged 11, added: “It is a privilege to see it, I support Everton so I don’t think I would have seen it otherwise."

Katie Myers from Barclays said that every single entry was read.

She said: "I look forward to the trophy coming into schools, to see the children faces, they are so excited."
