THE retail revolution is continuing at Bolton’s Market Place Shopping Centre — with another firm about to set up shop.

Cosmetics and skin care giant the Body Shop will open its doors to customers in a new unit inside the Market Place on Thursday.

The firm used to have a presence in the shopping centre but it closed down in 2013 after it was deemed not to be financially viable.

But with the massive investment being pumped into the centre by owners Moorgarth — which has seen new restaurants and shops open and a cinema on the way — Body Shop has decided to return to the town.

Rebecca Partington will be the store’s assistant manager when it opens on Thursday, she used to work at the Bolton store and cannot wait to be back.

The 23-year-old from Over Hulton said: “We were all gutted when they closed the shop and after moving to a Manchester store we had a lot of people coming in saying they wished there was still a Bodyshop in Bolton.

“We are really excited to be opening up again in The Market Place — with all the investment being put into the centre with the cinema, the vaults and new restaurants and shops we really feel like something big is happening there.

“We are telling people in our Manchester store that we are going to be back in Bolton and so many people have said how pleased they are, which is lovely.”

Body Shop is part of a steady stream of retail names that have or are planning to open up in the revitalised centre — including New Look, Scotts and Clarks.

The Bolton News understands another major retailer is also set to confirm it will be launching a new unit at The Market Place as well.

The new Bodyshop unit will be based on the ground floor of the centre in between Boots and H. Samuel jeweller and while its doors open on Thursday, there will be a grand opening on Saturday morning from around 10am, with goodie bags, free items and refreshments on offer.

While the majority of the roles at the shop have been filled, the firm is looking for an experienced senior sales consultant and interested applicants can apply at bodyshop.com/careers.

Meanwhile, fashion retailer New Look announced that 10 new jobs will be created by the opening of its new menswear store.

New Look has also disclosed that July 8 has been pencilled in as the opening date for the new standalone store.

The new store is only the ninth New Look Men to open in the UK after the retailer announced a new focus on its menswear range last August.

The New Look brand has decided to expand its portfolio of menswear stores after strong sales figures. The Bolton store will be joining the Wigan and Trafford Centre Men’s stores in the North West.
