DEVASTATED parents are hoping to raise £2,000 so they can give their four-month-old daughter a funeral fit for a princess.

Beautiful twin Daisy Errington died peacefully in her father’s arms on May 20 after developing septicaemia.

Mother Charlene Errington, aged 33, and husband Stephen, aged 30, now want to give their “princess” the perfect send-off.

The tot and her twin sister Rosy were born prematurely on January 8, at 28 weeks and weighed just 2lb 2oz each.

The baby girls were put on ventilation machines in Royal Bolton Hospital’s Neonatal-Unit for a week but Daisy contracted Swine Flu and was transferred to Alder Hey. Despite fighting the infection she then developed chronic lung disease and septicaemia.

Mrs Errington said: “She lived as a princess and I want her to go as a princess. She was such a bright and bubbly baby and had the cheesiest smile that you could have ever seen. Her and Rosy were always together. They aren’t supposed to be identical twins but you couldn’t tell them apart.

“I still talk to Daisy like she is here and I will talk to Rosy about her every day. She will never be forgotten.”

The couple, who live in Brooklyn Avenue in Farnworth, have set up a just giving page to fund their daughter’s funeral, which will take place on Friday.

Mrs Errington said she wanted a princess day with a horse drawn carriage and a pink coffin.

The money raised will go towards paying off outstanding funeral costs.

She said: “My life is depending on giving her the best day I possibly can. I have tried my best to get the funds but obviously short notice has beaten me. She is not going to have Christmas or birthdays so I want to give her as much as I can on this day.

“I wanted a horse drawn carriage but unfortunately they wanted the money upfront so she is now going to be carried by car on her daddy's knee.

"I didn't want her to have to go in a hearse and I want everyone to wear something pink. It needs to be fitting to her.”

The family, who have three other children, Ethan seven, Ella Louise, five, and Kyle two, are also going to transform Daisy’s cot into a memorial bench that they will put in the garden with a plaque to remember her.

Mrs Errington said: “My older two children understand that she has gone to sleep but I have written a letter from Daisy to them all saying that she is okay up there and not to worry.

“They think that is great because she has been able to speak to them from heaven.

“She has taken many people’s hearts. All the nurses at Royal Bolton Hospital are beside themselves because they had cared for her since she was born.

“I would like to thank all the nurses at the neo-natal unit at Royal Bolton Hospital and the nurses at Alder Hey for all their care.”

Daisy's funeral will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am on Friday, followed by a celebration of her life at Our Lady of Lourdes club at 7pm.
