BOLTON'S biggest rock festival has already proved a huge hit with music fans this weekend.

Around 5,000 people packed into Queens Park on Saturday for the first day of Boltfest 2016, with similar numbers expected again today.

The family-friendly event, organised by the creators of Prestwich-based festival, Festwich, this year includes tribute performances to the likes of Queen, David Bowie, Foo Fighters, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and AC/DC across two stages.

Organiser Jools Taylor said: "It has been a great success. The weather turned out nice for us and I really couldn't have asked for any more.

"All of the acts have been great, Queen II in particular were a fantastic headliner on Saturday night."
