1. The start of the weekend is a laughing matter in Bolton on Friday with the launch of a new comedy night.
Bolton Live is hosting its first “Bolton live laughs comedy night” from 7pm until 11pm at the Bolton Whites Hotel. The line-up includes host Mark Palmer with Justin Moorhouse, Jo D'Arcy and Mick Ferry as confirmed acts joining him on the evening.
Tickets cost £15 and are available the Bolton Live website.
2. Hard rock music fans can kick off the weekend with the start of three days of music at the Alma Inn in Bradshawgate. Seddfest kicks off on Friday night and features acts including Sinnergod, Anti-Clone, River Becomes Ocean, The Working Man, Stuck Between Stories, Another Dead Hero. Entry is free throughout the weekend.
3. If you favour pooches to the mosh pit, head along to Westhoughton Park on Saturday. Barking Berry’s is hosting a Fun Dog Show from 11am to 4pm.
The event is in aid of Rochdale Dog Rescue and Dogs Trust Merseyside, and will have stalls, prize raffle, fun dog class and games.
4. Vinyl fans can head to the Market Place Shopping Centre for the third outing of the Premier Records and CD fair.
Starting at 10am, traders from around the region will be selling a whole host of musical records from classics like the Beatles to more modern table spinners such as Lady GaGa. The fair is free to attend
5. From noon, the grounds of Breightmet United Football Club in Moss Park will play host to a charity Family Fun Day. The event is raising awareness of Type 1 Diabetes and money for JDRF, a registered charity specialising in Type 1.
The day, running until 9pm, is free to attend with lots going on for the children including face painting, bouncy castle fun, raffle, tombola, food and drink, football, wrestling and much more. There will also be a disco with karaoke in the evening and food on sale.
6. Saturday will also see the launch of the ‘We are Bolton’ exhibition featuring photography by University of Bolton students. The pictures celebrate everyday life in the town and the four month exhibition will open at Bolton railway station and Bolton Museum and Art Gallery. The railway will feature a selection of images on show at the café between platforms one and three.
7. Children can enjoy a day of woodland fun at Hall i’ th’ Wood from 1pm to 3pm.
Visitors can hear the tale of the Gruffalo and create a 3D woodland scene with animals from the story.
8. On Sunday from noon, Whitefield’s Eden Gardens Allotments will be in full bloom. The community allotments, off Derwent Avenue, will be hosting its summer sale until 4pm.
Visitors will be able to get their hands on seasonal vegetables, free-range eggs, garden plants and hanging baskets. A café will also be selling home-made cakes, jams and chutneys and holding a raffle on the day.
9. Car boot fans can have their fill of the sales on Sunday too. There will be car boots taking place in Cawdor Street, Bolton Market, Tennyson Street and Westhoughton Market.
