A TEENAGER who broke into a former church has been sentenced.

The burglar, aged 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, went in to All Souls Church, a conference centre, office, learning and community space in Astley Street in Astley Bridge, on April 24.

He stole alcohol, breathing apparatus and a display stand worth a total of £829.

The juvenile admitted burglary on May 11 at Bolton Youth Court and was sentenced there on June 1.

He was given a seven-month youth rehabilitation order with a three month 7pm-to-7am electronically-monitored curfew. He must pay £60 compensation a £20 victim surcharge and cost of £85.

A WOMAN who attacked a police officer has been given a community order.

Laura Greensmith, of Cornmill Drive, Farnworth, admitted at Bolton Magistrates' Court to assaulting PC Steve Lee in Bolton and assaulting Sergeant Hindmarch in Swinton on May 1.

She entered guilty pleas on May 17 and returned for sentencing.

The 31-year-old received a 12-month community order with 100 hours' unpaid work.

She must pay compensation of £50 to PC Lee and £150 to Sgt Hindmarch, a victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £85.

A MOTORIST who drove without due care and attention has been sentenced.

Daniel Stapleton, of Devon Street, Moses Gate, was behind the wheel of a 2015-reg BMW 3 Series on July 19 in Moss Bank Way, Bolton.

He changed his plea and admitted driving without due care and attention on Wednesday (June 1) at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 26-year-old was fined £40 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £20 and court costs of £20.

Stapleton was given three penalty points on his driving licence.

A 34-YEAR-OLD who assaulted two police officers has been fined.

Christopher Connelly, of Moorfield Grove, Tonge Moor, attacked PC Mohammed Masood and PC Robert Cook on April 3.

He admitted two counts of assaulting a police officer at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Connelly was fined £350 and ordered to pay compensation of £75 to each officer, a victim surcharge of £35 and court costs of £85.

A MOTORIST caught drink-driving has been fined.

Clifford McCarthy, of Valpy Avenue, Hall I' Th' Wood, gave a reading of 57mg in 100ml of breath after being spotted behind the wheel of a Nissan Qashqai in Starkie Road, Tonge Moor, on May 15. The legal limit is 35mg.

The 27-year-old admitted drink driving at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

He was fined £250 and disqualified from driving for 12 months by magistrates.

McCarthy was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85.

AN 18-YEAR-OLD has been convicted of stealing a laptop from Bolton Sixth Form College.

Waseem Ahmed had denied the January 7 theft of the £400 device but was convicted after a trial at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The Park Street, Bolton, resident was given a 12-month community order with 80 hours of unpaid work.

He must pay £400 compensation and £60 victim surcharge.

Three other counts of theft of £400 college laptops on different dates were dismissed.

A RAZOR blade thief has been sentenced by town magistrates.

Lee Kay, of St Helens Road, Daubhill, shoplifted the hygiene goods from an unspecified Sainsbury's store in Bolton on April 5.

The 27-year-old admitted theft and an additional count of failing to surrender at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

Kay was fined £100 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £85.

A DRIVER has been fined for using a vehicle five months after its licence expired.

Colin O'Brien, of Bromley Cross Road, Bromley Cross, was behind the wheel of an unspecified 2002-reg vehicle, either a large goods vehicle or passenger-carrying vehicle, on August 17 last year.

He was caught at the junction of Oldham Road and Swan Street in Ancoats, central Manchester, and the licence had expired in February last year.

The 33-year-old admitted using an unlicensed vehicle at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

O'Brien was fined £165 and was ordered to pay backdated excise duty of £90 and court costs of £90.

A LITTLE Lever man has been sentenced for assaulting a PCSO.

Andrew Commons attacked PCSO Ian Garbett, part of the Little Lever neighbourhood policing team, on February 22.

He originally denied one count of assault of a community support officer but changed his plea last month and was sentenced.

The 51-year-old, of The Haven, Little Lever, was given a three-month community order inclusive of a 7pm-to-7am curfew.

Commons must pay compensation to his victim of £50, a £60 victim surcharge and court costs of £620.

A THIEF who stole nearly £100 of meat has been given a 12-month conditional discharge.

Nicole Kitteridge, of Park Road, Bolton, shoplifted £98.98 worth of produce from Marks and Spencer in Bolton on March 4.

She admitted theft at Bolton Magistrates' Court.

The 25-year-old was given a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay compensation of £98.98, a victim surcharge of £15 and court costs of £85.
