TRAVELLERS who have set up camp on parkland in Bolton have been given 24 hours to leave the site.
At least 10 caravans and associated vehicles arrived in Leverhulme Park yesterday, Tuesday June 7.
Representatives from Bolton Council and Greater Manchester Police have visited the travellers and given them notice to leave the site.
A council spokesman confirmed: “We do everything we can to remove travellers from public land as quickly as possible – using the powers we have available through current national law.
“The council and the police have already visited the travellers at Leverhulme Park and we have served directions, which gives them 24 hours to leave.
“If they do not leave, we can then apply for a court summons.”
