Man harassed woman with fake takeaway orders and malicious e-mails 

A 29-YEAR-OLD man has been given a suspended jail term for ordering fake takeaways to a woman's home and sending malicious e-mails to her employer that threatened to cost the victim her job.
Carl Dyer, of Cross Street, admitted harassment at Bolton Magistrates' Court in May and returned for sentencing on Monday. (June 6)
He "sent several text messages and made false alterations to online accounts and also ordered takeaways in her name" between December 6 last year and March 10 according to the charge.
Dyer received an 18 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.
He must complete 15 days' rehabilitation activity and 300 hours of unpaid work.
The magistrates noted his offence involved "planning, ignoring distress involving others and sending false e-mails to work, putting her job in jeopardy".
A restraining order was imposed and Dyer must pay compensation of £250, an £80 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Shoplifter stole Dr Dre Beats headphones and Amazon TV Fire stick

A SHOPLIFTER who stole electrical goods has been given a suspended prison term.
Paul Perrins, aged 47, took Dr Dre Beats headphones worth £135 from an unspecified Tesco store on May 5 and was found in possession of a fined-lined carrier bag used to fool security barriers.
He also stole an Amazon TV Fire stick worth £79.99 from Tesco in Longcauseway in Farnworth on May 19.
The Paderborn Court, Bolton, resident admitted two counts of theft, one of going equipped for theft and two of failing to surrender at Bolton Magistrates' Court and was sentenced there on Friday. (June 10)
Perrins received 22 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and was told to undertake up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity and pay a victim surcharge of £115.
He admitted committing the later shoplifting offence in breach of a conditional discharge imposed in October for theft but no separate action was taken.

Car insurance fraudster gets suspended jail term

A FRAUDSTER who paid for car insurance with someone else's card has been spared immediate jail.
Imran Aslam, of Astley Brooke Close, The Valley, admitted two fraud offences at Bolton Magistrates' Court and was sentenced the following day.
He contacted Swiftcover car insurance company and claimed he was authorised and entitled to provide payment details of a Visa bank card that was not issued in his name.
The payment, made in August 2013, was for £309.53.
Aslam did the same thing between July 2013 and August 2013 in Bolton by settling a £1,560 Swiftcover payment using an account held by Charitable Giving, a payroll giving agency based in Devon.
The 29-year-old was sentenced to 22 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, and must complete 15 days' rehabilitation activity and 150 hours' unpaid work.
He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £80 and court costs of £85.

Casino man in court

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a conditional discharge after he admitted being drunk and disorderly at a casino.
Bolton magistrates heard how Timothy Collins, aged 32, of Morris Green Road, Bolton, committed the offence at Gentings Casino on Higher Bridge Street on May 21.
In addition to the conditional discharge for 12 months, Collins was ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Drink driver banned

A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for 23 months by Bolton magistrates.
Gary Court, aged 47, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, had drunk more than double the legal limit of alcohol when he was caught driving a Renault Scenic at Doffcocker on May 22.
He pleaded guilty to committing the offence and, in addition to the ban, he was fined £120 and ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

Woman guilty of harassment

A WOMAN has been given a community order for harassing a Bolton man with "numerous text messages".
Susan Dummitt, aged 43, carried out the course of conduct between April 8 and April 16.
She admitted harassment on May 9 at Bolton Magistrates' Court and was sentenced back there on Monday. (June 6)
Dummitt, of Adlington, Lancashire, was given a 12-month community order including 80 hours of unpaid work and 20 days of rehabilitation activity.
She must pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £85.

Van driver fined for drink-driving in McDonald's car park

A VAN driver has been fined for drink-driving in a McDonald's car park.
Ben Gorman had consumed too much alcohol when he was caught behind the wheel of 2013-reg Ford Transit in the burger restaurant's car park in Chorley Old Road, Bolton, on March 15.
The 29-year-old gave a reading of 67mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath against the limit of 35mg.
Gorman, of Moss Bank Way, Johnson Fold, changed his plea and admitted drink-driving on Monday (June 6) at Bolton Magistrates' Court.
He was disqualified from driving for six months and fined £100 and was ordered to pay court costs of £85.
Gorman was also sentenced for two counts of common assault committed against a man and a woman on March 13, which he admitted at the same court back in April.
For these two offences he was given a 12-month community order, with 20 days' rehabilitation activity, and was fined £40 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and court costs of £85.

Teen fined for driving without licence or insurance

A TEENAGER has been fined by Salford and Manchester magistrates after admitting driving a Fiat Punto in Pavillion Square, Westhoughton, on April 12 without a licence or insurance.
Ryan Mather, aged 19, of Pine Grove, Westhoughton, was ordered to pay £715 in fines and court costs and given six penalty points.

Fine for driver 

A MOTORIST has been told to pay £261 in fines and court costs after admitting driving without insurance or a licence.
Gary Lee Eden, aged 22, of Woodham Walk, Bolton, committed the offences on April 26 while driving a Peugeot 106 in Ashton Street, Rumworth.
Eden appeared before Salford and Manchester magistrates last Friday and admitted two driving charges. He was also given six penalty points.

Woman in court for not wearing seatbelt 

DRIVING without wearing a seatbelt led to a Westhougton women appearing in court.
Emma Thornton, aged 29, of Alexandria Drive, drove a Ford Fiesta in Avenue Street, Bolton, on April 18, without a licence or insurance or while wearing a seatbelt.
She admitted three driving offences to Salford and Manchester magistrates last Friday and was given six penalty points and ordered to pay fines and court costs totalling £431.

Man fined for no insurance

MAZHAR Naseem, aged 46, of St Helens Road, Rumworth, appeared before Salford and Manchester magistrates on May 27 and admitted driving a Volkswagen Sharan without insurance in Willows Lane, Rumworth, on November 22 last year.
He was given six penalty points and ordered to pay £225 in fines and costs.

Minibus firm fined over identity issue

A MINI bus firm has been fined for not telling police the identity of a driver.
Bestway Minibuses Ltd, which is based in Wigan Road, Bolton, appeared before Salford and Manchester magistrates on May 27 charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver of a Mercedes vehicle was alleged to have been guilty of an offence on December 7 last year.
The charge was proved under the single justice procedure at the hearing and the company was ordered to pay £910 in fines and court costs.

Man fined for jumping light

DRIVING through a red light led to a Moses Gate man appearing in court.
Hamid Mumtaz, aged 49, of Starcliffe Street, drove a Mercedes car through the junction in Ashton Old Road, Manchester, 21 seconds after it had turned to red on November 6 last year.
He admitted the offence to Salford and Manchester magistrates on May 27 and was given three penalty points and ordered to pay £190 court costs.
