A MISSING necklace belonging to an alleged murder victim has still not been traced, say police.

Last month detectives asked for help to trace the item of jewellery worn by Darren McMinn, a former warehouseman of Connaught Square, Tonge Moor.

The 48-year-old grandfather disappeared on April 11 and his body was discovered in Yarrow Reservoir in Hodge Brow, near Rivington, on May 3.

Police say finding the gold chain with a cross and a rectangular piece with red in the centre would assist their investigation and added that it also had huge sentimental value to Mr McMinn's relatives.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Jones said unfortunately the appeal has not generated any response.

Portuguese national Candido Pereira, aged 37, of Chorley New Road, Heaton, is to stand trial at Manchester Crown Court in October charged with the murder of Mr McMinn on April 11, supplying diamorphine to Mr McMinn on April 11 and cultivating cannabis on April 29.
